After weeks of not just packing, but 'editing' our lives down to the 14 foot space alotted in a moving truck, we are finally ready to leave for asheville.
The north shore of long island has been good to my children and I. Leaving here feels, oddly, like leaving their childhood. My daughter was 18 months when we moved here. Now she is 7. Nicolas was born here. Now he is about to start first grade! When they remember being small, it will always involve the beach and sea grass not mountains or kudzo. Who knows what blooms will grow from these seeds of memory and sea glass?
