A Chocolate Welcome

It was our first real day on our own to explore Asheville, so of course this warranted a trip to the French Broad Chocolate Lounge.  We hand-selected a six-pack of artisan chocolates: raspberry, mint, mata, carmel, vanilla lavender and something I ate too fast to remember. I was blown away. These did not taste like regular chocolates but something your grandmother would have made from scratch from fresh ingredients had she been a wild food forager.

The kids each had one chocolate at the lounge, while I sipped a cappuccino so smooth it didn't even need sweetener. Then we served up the remaining 4 chocolates into thirds for a "chocolate party" after dinner. Everyone  tried a "slice" of each chocolate and rated their favorite at the end (with water for palate cleansing).  Nicky liked the caramel, I like the mint -- tasted like something you'd find in a julep rather than a candy, and Annabelle picked the green ganache mata. Clearly this needs to become a family ritual. There are so many flavors to try...

Oh yeah, folks, you can buy their chocolates ONLINE!
